Nike Gives Back

Nike East recently exposed their team of employees and corporate executives to the benefits of volunteering through mentoring opportunities in New York City. On December 8^th, the staff of Mentoring USA joined forces with the North East Coast division of Nike to host a bowling event at Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex in Manhattan.  Over 100 participants bowled in an energetic fun filled evening.  The spirit of friendly competition began as the children began bowling with the Nike staff.  Jeannette Rodriguez - Corporate Responsibility Manager organized the event in hopes that Nike employees would be encouraged to find the personal rewards and pride of public service with Mentoring USA.  The outcome proved positive as Nike employees bonded with the children. At the end of the night, Nike employees graciously handed out special gift bags to their mentees-for-a-night, and after the event NIKE followed up with sneaker donations to every Mentoring USA site.  Dr. Shakira Kennedy, Executive Director of the HELP USA at the Hamilton, also stopped by to support Mentoring USA's Executive Director, Stephen Powell, and MUSA staff.
