Mentoring USA & Bloomingdale's Unveil 2010 Window

14:50PM on January 20 2010
In front of the Bloomingdale’s window at 60th and Lexington, Matilda Raffa Cuomo (Former First Lady of New York State), Tony Spring (President of Bloomingdale’s), Kris Jenkins (New York Jets), Mr. G (PIX11 weatherman), and Marlaina Sims-Powell (Broadway Actress), along with PS 59’s 4th graders, await the unveiling of a new Bloomindales’s window in commemoration of their decade long partnership with Mentoring USA.

Once the window was unveiled, the mentees were excited to try and find their own contributions to the display. This year’s theme was inspired by service and consisted of letters written by PS 59’s 4th graders to our soldiers currently serving overseas.

After finding and admiring their letters turned into a display, mentors and mentees headed for another treat where they enjoyed breakfast inside of Bloomingdale’s Forty Carrots.  The Third Annual Charles Grodin Champion of Change Award was presented to Richard Pitelli.  Richard has been mentoring for ten years and is working with his third mentee.  He’s in good company, as the award’s previous recipients were Faith Gertner, a Bloomingdales Buddy for 11 years, and Celeste Eschenwald, “the glue holding the mentoring program at Bloomingdale’s together."
