Mentoring USA is committed to protecting the privacy of our volunteers, donors and all visitors to our website (www.mentoringusa.org). This privacy notice is designed to help you better understandthe types of personal information we collect, how we may use that information, and with whom we may share it. It also describes the measures we take to protect the security of the information. Lastly, we tell you how you can update your contact information, remove your name from our mailing list, or answer any questions you may have about our privacy practices.
Information we collect and how we use that information
We collect and use information about you so we can communicate with you about our services, programs and events. This information is also used to improve your website experience, accept mentor applications, receive donations, and keep you informed on issues important to Mentoring USA. We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share or rent this information to anyone, without your consent.
Below are the ways we obtain information about you, the types of information we obtain and how we use the information.
Mentor Application
Information collected in our application
This information is initially only available to employees managing the volunteer placement process. Certain questions on our application are optional; the required questions are used to offer the right mentoring experience to applicants and to ensure the safety of our youth.
Once a volunteer has expressed interest in or agreed to placement at a partnering organization, we will forward your application to our youth-serving partner organizations that host the mentoring program. They may contact you regarding your potential involvement.
Stay Informed/Training RSVP/Contact Us
We will use your information to communicate with you about your inquiry and place you on our mailing list. In addition, we may use such information to improve marketing and promotional efforts as well as to improve our Site's services. Unless you ask us not to, we will contact you via email in the future to tell you about our programs, services, or special events. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization.
Donations
Donations made to Mentoring USA are processed through a secure Google Checkout account. We do not request or store any sensitive personal information such as credit card from our website donors. The contact information we do use is only to facilitate your donations and communicate with you. Unless you ask us not to, we will contact you via email in the future to tell you about our programs, services, or special events. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization.
Security
We take precautions to protect your information. Mentoring USA collects information that is only necessary to contact you about your donation. All donations are processed through Google Checkout. Information collected on this website is stored on Google's secure database and is not available to Mentoring USA, other than contact information and email. You'll know that you're in a secure website when the "http" portion of the website address in your browser changes to "https." The "s" stands for "secure."
IP Address
We automatically collect an IP address from all our visitors to our site. An IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer when you use the internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our site, track a user's movement and analyze interests and behavior to better understand and serve you. We use such date only in the aggregate. The IP address is not linked to any personally identifiable information.
Cookies
Our Site may use "cookies" which are small files placed on your hard drive to enhance your experience while on our Site. Cookies are pieces of information that each website can send to the computer that is browsing that website and are used for record keeping at many websites.
